Sergey Petrov

Sergey Petrov is a graduate of the Gnesin Academy of Music. He was a student of People’s artist of Russia Professor Ivan Panteleyevich Mozgovenko’s class.

In 2001-2003 he was a principal clarinet of Moscow’s State Philharmonic Orchestra.

He’s been a solo performer and a principal clarinet of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre since 2002.

Sergey Petrov been awarded many prizes: a laureate of the 2001 Klingental ensemble competition (Germany), a laureate of the 2002 Moscow Classical Heritage competition (Russia), a first degree laureate of the 2005 St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov First international competition (Russia)

He is also a recipient of the prize of the Bolshoi Theatre Guardian Council.

Sergey Petrov is a member of the wood-wind quintet of the Bolshoi Theatre giving successful concert tours worldwide.

He is a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Chamber Orchestra.

Now he is an artiste of the Buffet Crampon и Vandore French firms.

In 2009 Sergey Petrov issued a CD of French music. As a member of the Bolshoi Theatre quintet he recorded the Classics, Romanticism, Avant-gard compact disc.

As a soloist and an orchestra player he has participated in musical scoring and recordings of operas and ballets produced by the Bolshoi Theatre.

He is a visiting artist for the Rachmaninov Trio.

Sergey Petrov is an active soloist and he has given concert tours masterclasses in Japan, Macedonia, Oman and Russia.

He participates in the Ohrid Summer Festival.

As a member of numerous award panels he has took part in a number of international festivals and competitions.

At present he is successfully pursuing two careers: he is a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and a teacher of the Balakirev State School of Art, Moscow’s biggest school of art, and Moscow Schnittke State Institute of Music.
